Organic Farming

All agricultural organisations in the world are recognising that organic soil amendments are an integral input in the farming practices even where other chemicals are being used.
Organic Farming

We are helping farmers turn to organic farming easily.

The world’s current population is 7.9 billion and is expected to climb till 10.9 billion by United Nations’ estimation. While we are required to grow more and more food to feed this rising population, we are running out of the resources alarmingly fast. Soils are under growing pressure from intensive farming and tilling, overharvesting and the use of chemicals. As a result, the world loses an equivalent of 30 football pitches of fertile soil every minute.

Fossil-fuel intensive chemical fertilizers cause short term intensive growth that rapidly depletes the organic matter and rids the soil of the essential microorganisms which further worsens the problem in the long run.

The practices of organic agriculture are rapidly increasing in India and world-wide to redress the problems posed by the chemical intensive agriculture like degradation of soil, ever increasing farming expenses, less resilient crops, contamination of water resources, and the like. In contrast to chemical fertilisers, the organic soil amendments increase the organic activity in soil and have universal application. Both the farmers and the consumers are showing preference towards the organic farming and food due to the better long-term value. India now ranks 1st in the number of producers engaged in organic farming.

Indian Scenario

The Government of India, through its various programmes and schemes like National Programme for Organic Production, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana, is promoting organic agriculture.
National Programme for Organic Production focuses on the certification of organic products and overall promotion of organic products.
Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana- Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation (RKVY-RAFTAAR) aimed at promoting agri-business entrepreneurship with major focus on pre & post-harvest infrastructure, besides promoting agri-entrepreneurship and innovations.

Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana aims at development of sustainable models of organic farming through a mix of traditional wisdom and modern science to ensure long term soil fertility build-up, resource conservation and helps in climate change adaptation and mitigation

The details for the year 2020-21 speak volumes about the commercial success of such schemes:
